Severn Athletic Club Baseball

In-House Baseball ages 4 thru 18

Travel Baseball ages 8 thru 14

Volunteers must register using the following link (separate from players)

To determine what division your child will be in; goes by what age they are on August 31,  2022

Use the following chart/link for clarification.

Volunteer Positions

Coaches/Assistant Coaches – are needed at all Divisions…last Spring we had to stop registrations and ultimately had to tell 24 kids that they could not play because we did not have Coaches for their teams. We are currently stopping registrations due to lack of coaches. With everything that our children have gone through the last couple of years, they need you to step up and give them back their childhood.

We will have experienced coaches and equipment available  to help you get started with your coaching.

Concessions Stand Committee – Help manage, in conjunction with Softball, our concession stand. We have in the past assigned teams a day during the season to staff the stand, which we will probably continue. This is an important need as it provides a needed function (feeding hungry kids and parents!) while also providing additional funds to purchase equipment and/or goes to field maintenance.

Dates to remember:

Saturday, April 9Baseball and Softball Opening Day |

Friday, Saturday and Sunday; April 22, 23, 24 – Spring Break Tournament – Travel team tournament fundraiser for Baseball (this keeps our registration fees some of the lowest in the area)

Friday, May 6 & Saturday, May 7 – Softball will be hosting Team USA Olympian Haylie McCleney who will be running softball camps those days

May 7 – Softball and Baseball Picture Day

Sunday, May 22 – Youth Baseball and Softball Day @ Orioles Park

Week of June 12 thru June 18 – tentative Baseball Championship games/end of season

Well, if you made it this far, I will also be posting this on the website

Thank you for choosing Severn Athletic Club Baseball

TO VOLUNTEER: the best of times we always need more volunteers than we get....during this time of the Covid - 19 virus we have been relying on too few volunteers to keep baseball running...we still have to take care of the fields...the county does NOT take care of the fields...nor do they empty the trash cans....they don't clean the bathrooms either....they don't run the concession stand...they don't do any of the administrative work...outside of the fact that we play in a County Park, EVERYTHING is done by VOLUNTEERS.

In order to be a  coach/assistant coach/team parent or have any "any personal involvement with children" you must have a passing background check thru AACO Rec. and Parks.

Currently background checks by the AACPS are not accepted.

COUNTY POLICY "As a prerequisite for any personal involvement with children, all adults who have care, custody or control of youth participants in any program or activity are required to successfully complete a criminal history records check as described in the Background Check process in this manual. "

Further information go to:

Coaching - a criminal background check is required for anyone who interacts with children. Click on the following link to go to Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks webpage for more info:

You must also have a coaches certification from the county:

Other On-line Training for Coaches - go to:  or
This is an excellent resource whether you never played Baseball, new to Coaching or have Coached for years. It teaches you about the game, each position, how to run practices and practice plans. Although it shows an invoice when registering for a course it is totally free.  When signing up use verbatim: Severn Athletic Club Baseball as the organization

Team Parent(s) - because there is interaction with children you must have a criminal background check also; go to:

CONCESSION STAND - We will need people to run the concession stand this year. More info to come
